Co-Create is a product creation programme for Lush staff, aiming to promote diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging by lifting up authentic stories from respective communities. Co-creator Jazmin Guerra Langston shares their inspiration for this Día de Muertos product:
“Like all art, Papel Picado takes time, effort and soul to make. However, this form of art isn’t made to last. Its main purpose on our altars is to remind us that life is just as fragile as it is beautiful. Upon completion, they are strung up to catch the breeze. In that moment, you can feel, see and hear the spirits fluttering by.”
What’s in it for you?
– Co-Creator Jazmin Guerra Langston chose the sherbet sweet scent of Avocado Co-Wash because, “my grandfather lovingly tended to his Avocado grove where we would spend time picking and working, ultimately ending the day with a well deserved asadita. Since his passing it’s been alone, I hope to return there someday.”
– With a base of coconut oil and glycerine, it doesn’t just leave you smelling good, you’ll feel delightfully soft and supple too!
Leaving the world Lusher than we found it
Our proper soap is proper lovely and made the traditional way by saponification. We mix it by hand, adding in beautiful ingredients for their effects, pour it hot and let it cure before it takes pride of place by your sink. Here we’ve blended two luxurious soap bases, coconut and rapeseed for a nice firm bar, along with rice bran to deliver creamy lathers and silky bubbles. Lucky you!
The glycerine in this soap is completely palm-free and vegan-friendly.
How to use:
Use some string to hang this soap up as a decoration, either individually or all together as a set, or lather under warm water for a burst of juicy citrus.
How to store:
Hang up using string to decorate your space or store somewhere safe and dry in between uses. If you want to use it as a decoration again after lathering up, wait until dry and make sure the holes haven’t washed away before stringing them up.
